Data Replication in Cloud Systems: A Survey

چکیده

Thispaperpresentsasurveyofdatareplicationstrategiesincloudsystems.Basedonthesurveyand reviewsofexistingclassifications,weproposeanotherclassificationofreplicationstrategiesbasedon thefollowingfivedimensions:(i)staticvs.dynamic,(ii)reactivevs.proactiveworkloadbalancing, (iii)providervs.customercentric,(iv)optimalnumbervs.dynamicadjustmentofthereplicafactor and(v)objectivefunction.Ideally,agoodreplicationstrategymustsimultaneouslyconsidermultiple criteria:(i)thereductionofaccesstime,(ii)thereductionofthebandwidthconsumption,(iii)the storageresourceavailability,(iv)abalancedworkloadbetweenreplicasand(v)astrategicplacement algorithmincludinganadjustednumberofreplicas.Therefore,selectingadatareplicationstrategy isaclassicexampleofmultiplecriteriadecisionmakingproblems.Thetaxonomywepresentcan beausefulguidelineforITmanagerstoselectthedatareplicationstrategyfortheirorganization.
